Brave Haven, the Town Hub

Brave Haven is the village the story builds for: after the Squid Coast camp burns, you ferry villagers across the sea to settle here, and it becomes your base. Merchants sell gear for emeralds and can be upgraded, the Enchant Smith manages enchantments, and the blacksmith upgrades gear and rerolls effects with echo shards.

The first Minecraft Dungeons sent you back to a camp between missions. The sequel gives the camp a story and a zip code. After the Squid Coast camp is attacked, the campaign's opening act is helping the villagers escape across the sea and settle a new town: Brave Haven. From then on it is your base of operations, and it behaves like a living place rather than a menu.

What the town does

Brave Haven is where runs end and begin. The systems that live there:

Villager / facilityFunction
MerchantSells gear for emeralds; can be upgraded to stock better items
Enchant SmithApplies enchantments from your library; disenchanting refunds points without destroying the item
BlacksmithUpgrades existing gear; rerolls special effects using echo shards
The town itselfA lively village with ambient events, easter eggs and villagers with individual animations

The merchant upgrade loop

The change that reshapes gearing: merchants level up, and an upgraded merchant sells better stock. That turns emeralds from a between-mission trinket into a progression resource, because improving your town's vendors is how you buy the gear you want instead of hoping the right drop falls. Combined with the blacksmith's echo-shard rerolls and the talisman and artifact slots, most build targets in Dungeons II can be reached deliberately. How enchanting works. Where these systems sit in the wider game.

Villagers, on the record

Mojang's developers spent real stream time on the villagers: they have custom animations, personalities and the same "hmrph" attitude as ever, and helping them is written into the campaign. The design intent, stated on the launch stream, is that the town is part of the adventure rather than a menu screen you tolerate.

What is not documented

⚠️ Unconfirmed. The complete vendor roster, merchant upgrade costs, echo-shard economy and whether town facilities expand through the story are not published. If a system here gets a number attached later, this page updates with the source.

Can Brave Haven be attacked or lost?

Nothing in official material suggests a defense mechanic. The town is presented as a safe hub.

Where do echo shards come from?

They are a currency the blacksmith consumes for rerolls. The acquisition rate and sources have not been published.
